A programme almost exclusively of arrangements of old and new popular music. That's how we could describe the "Ebb and Flood" programme of the Dutch Recorder Orchestra Praetorius Leiden. Before the interval there will be works from before 1900, after the interval will follow jazzy arrangements of standards such as 'Take Five', 'Summertime' and 'Embraceble you' as well as the modern sounds of 'For Elise' (in tango form) and last but not least the emulation of the typically Amsterdam sound of a barrel organ in the fantastic number 'Aan de Amsterdamse grachten' ('On the canals of Amsterdam'), arranged by Paul Leenhouts based on the wonderful tear-jerker by Peter Schott. As well as choir, chamber orchestra and living organ it seems a recorder orchestra can now suddenly be turned into a majestic barrel organ.
